One of the many things that makes Bluesky deferent from most social media platforms (besides the whole open source thing) is the character limit, on Bluesky by default you get a max of 300 characters per post, if you need more you start a āthreaded postā and while the character limit can be annoying some times is 300 characters enough why not 500 characters?
Threads and Mastodon both have a 500-character limit so why not Bluesky?
Bluesky is a microblogging platform, or at least thatās what Wikipedia says, so it doesnāt need the extra characters but sometimes you're going to run into ādang it, Iām 3 characters over the limitā so now you need to start a threaded post all because of those 3 extra characters.
Threads is still a microblogging platform but it aināt Meta has introduced a new longer post feature so now it's more of a blog.
But I feel like the 300 character limit is just right, itās at a nice even 300 and it isnāt too small that you need to constantly make threaded posts but more like an every so often thing.
