Edge just got faster.
And yet people don’t realize how good Edge is

In a new post on the Windows Blog, Microsoft says Edge has “reached a major milestone” when it comes to loading speeds. Edge can now load most web pages in under 300 milliseconds to start rendering the site, images, text, and more.
Because Edge is based on Chrome, it can use a tool called FCP (First Contentful Paint), a tool that Google added to Chrome in 2017. According to Microsoft, waiting longer than 300-400 milliseconds can impact user satisfaction, which can result in a lower rate of returning visitors.
This upgrade can and will make some users switch to Edge, which has less than 5% market share in web browsers compared to Google Chrome’s 68%.
In the coming months, Microsoft plans to make Edge faster.
