Is chatGPT our new Search Engine?

With AI at our fingertips, giving us access to hundreds of models, some even faster and better than Google, is AI our next search engine?

The use of AI as a search engine is growing fast, but Google still has 400 times the usage of ChatGPT - says The Washington Post.

According to web analysis firm Datos by Semrush and software company SparkToro, 11 out of every 100 websites we visit are to search engines such as Google. And that less than 1 out of 100 websites we visit are to AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.

One main issue with AI search engines is that most websites (like mine (madebydanny.uk)) have settings and rules turned on via our Domain Registrar (in my case, Cloudflare) to prevent AI from crawling my site. This lowers costs and saves bandwidth for “real people”.

So is AI replacing old search engines? That will be a NO for now. As AI gets smarter and faster, more and more people will use AI as a search engine. But who knows how long that will take?
