Mastodon 4.4 just got a major redesign

Mastodon a open source decentralized social media platform just a got major redesign and post quoting.

The new feature announcement Quotes will let users quote other users post just like Threads & Bluesky.

Quote post feature is not available to the public the way we think it is.  Mastodon is rolling out the feature but only in code form that will show quoted post from other compatible Fediverse Networks, including Mastodon.

Version 4.4 brings with it a new redesign of the whole app. Improvements to navigation, list, media and more.

The new “Feature on my profile“ option lets you feature want you want to promote, like your post with a certain hashtag or other accounts.

Version 4.4 also overhauled the video player. Adding seeking, volume control and fullscreen.

On mobile you can pinch to zoom in and out of images. The mobile version of the website now looks more like the app and they renamed “Explore” tab to “Trending”.

This update is a big one adding features and design changes to make mastodon look more appealing.
