Reddit is rolling out age verification for its users in the U.K.
Bluesky did the same thing last week

Reddit is now verifying users age to comply With the U.K.s online safety act.
If the user does not want to verify their age or is under 18, some subreddits and “mature content” will be hidden.
Users in the U.K. will be asked to verify their age by uploading a photo of there face or their government issued ID/Drivers license.
Age verification will be done by a third party service called Persona, Reddit says that they will not have access to user uploaded photos used for age verification but Persona will but only for seven days. Persona will not have access to the users Reddit information.
“Reddit was built on the principle that you shouldn’t need to share personal information to participate in meaningful discussions,” Reddit said in its announcement. “While we still don’t want to know who you are on Reddit, there are certainly situations where it would be helpful if we knew a little more about you.”
We don’t know anyone in the U.K. but the verge does.
