Threads might dethrone X as the most visited social media site.

With Linda Yaccarion stepping down as X CEO and competition growing from Threads and Bluesky, could this be the downfall of X?

Year-over-year, X has seen its user base decline by 10%. While X’s user base is still 65% bigger than Threads by a margin of 2M and Threads’ user base is 10x bigger than Bluesky, X being the number one spot may not last much longer.

On mobile devices, Threads is already catching up. Threads reached 115.1 million daily active users compared to X’s 132 daily active users. Indicating that Threads might dethrone X as the most visited social media site.

User engagement is strong on X, but Threads from Meta also has a good algorithm. More open-source social media services like Bluesky & Mastodon are becoming popular due to their open-source design.

For now, X is still number one, but for how long until Meta’s Threads dethrones X?
