On Wednesday the privacy first company known for its email and VPN service, Proton announced Lumo an encrypted secure AI chat bot. The Swiss company says they built Lumo as a alternative to mainstream AI chat bots like Copilot, Gemini, Calude & the hundreds of other options available (even if it’s just ChatGPT api with a different UI).

Lumo works like other AI chat bots, you can ask it questions, analyze documents, write emails and generate code.

Proton says it doesn’t keep logs and it uses the same world class software all its services use to encrypt and secure all your other data. Proton says that even they can’t see your messages.

The AI chat bot is powered by open source LLMs.

Proton also added “Ghost Mode” that deletes your conversation once you close it.
